KJ Sawka Lastest Ep "Undefined Connectivity" out 1/15/09 -- You'll Hear It Here First!!!

KJ Sawka's latest production Undefined Connectivity takes us to his most
cohesive, signature sound to date. Manipulating massive, towering arcs of
bass sine waves that pass through you and take off for the horizon,
KJ, galloping at a dangerously ferocious pace only he can muster, creates
melody of electro and glitch like magic in his hands. He floats and bobs you
on a massive bed of bass, and from the center of this song -of this electro-epic-
he pounds on drums and crashes and cymbals, he swings swords and daggers
and grinds bits of glass, slicing it all up and crunching it all up in one streaming
neverending effort. He chops it up into little bits and fragments of krakt drum'n'bass, psy-breaks, and distorted rhythms. It's cinematic. It is heavy.
It is KJ Sawka.

10 years ago -when drum'n'bass was very near it's zenith in popularity, and Kevin
was playing in prominent rock bands in Seattle (grunge was huge)- someone
played him an LTJ Bukem track, and, as he says, "It scorched my brain. I dropped
everything, and focused solely on how to recreate that on the drums." He heard
Dieselboy as well. More brain-scorching. He started writing utilizing the style, and
honed his new concepts and approach to the drums. He debuted the new sound
in the band 94th Street, a band years ahead of it's time: a pop drum'n'bass band
with a sense of humor. While the band didn't gain much momentum, the word
about Kevin was out: there's a drummer in Seattle who's performing jungle and
drum'n'bass beats on acoustic drums, what was once thought to be absolutely
impossible by any human. And here Kevin was making it look easy -like watching
a jazz drummer who's said to play "like water flowing," Kevin instead was doling
out insanely syncopated d'n'b.

Ian FFord has been an influential force in New York City's underground scene since 1996. Not limited to a specific genre, Ian weaves his sets from a variety of musical fabrics. His main love is Underground Electronic music, and he spins anything from Electrohouse to EBM, Industrial, Synthpop, Trance, Post Punk, Underground Rock to New Wave/Retro-Alternative and more. Ian is unrelenting in his ability to entertain the masses, read crowds and deliver stunning performances night after night. His fresh approach to music cuts across genres in a seemingly effortless fashion, leading you on a journey through your emotions and sexuality.

Ian's current residencies in New York City are Splash Bar's main floor, Freaks and Geeks NYC, The Dark and other events he creates. He also is also a regular guest at several nightclubs in the Northeastern U.S. and London.

Ian held residency at Webster Hall (New York City) for four years and has spun with such notables as Andrew Weatherall, Boy George, DJ Dezrok and more. His Friday night was broadcast live for about two years on WLIR FM in Long Island. Ian engineers his own special mixes and is currently releasing remix tracks for a number of acts, both established and up-and-coming.

Throughout 2006 to 2008, he has performed with Hex Hector, Frankie Knuckles, Junior Vazquez and Rob Leslie. Additionally Ian is often the DJ of choice for many high-profile events, including The Internet Awards, Amnesty International, President Clinton’s 1996 Campaign Kick-off Party, and numerous fashion shows. He regularly opens for national and international acts, including Wolfsheim, VNV Nation, Rollins Band, Danzig, Marilyn Manson and more.

His ideology is that everyone should leave an event better than when they came in, having transformed their energies through dance and music.

I can't be certain, but the music from "Hypnotic Melodies" seems
like a logical continuation of this music you have uploaded here. "Kingdom
Of Dub" Has the feeling of trying to find a way through musical
possibilities, unable to decide on a particular detail or sub genre of dub and
ultimately being able to make that decision. "Rosenthal City" I have
to ask if this track is related in any way to Sam Rosenthal of Black Tape For A
Blue Girl? Just curious. My familiarity with his music is somewhat limited, yet
if there is a sound connection here, unfortunately am not tuning into it. There
is a similar hesitance in this track as that of "Kingdom..." That same
indecisiveness, but after listening it repeated times it begins to create a
drone so that all the parts that have been edited to together create a
metaphysical, second sound not immediately perceptible. "squall remix"
falls more into a range of music that I listen to regularly for the fact there
is a greater presence of melody in this track. This project is an interesting
starting point in the world of music you have melted down and raised up in a new
form. And the sound has matured between here and "Hypnotic Melodies".
I am curious to know where you go next fro here. So, don't hesitate to let
me know when that takes place, I would love to hear the evolution.
